Welcome to BLOGMAS Day 17!

I have lived in 3 different countries apart from India and have met some amazing people! No matter the change in cultural and social elements, there have always been a few perceptions/assumptions people make about India and Indians!

I too have come across so many funny and weird questions people ask, when they realize I am an Indian! Read through the top 10 questions I get asked and my take on them (which I wish I could throw at them, lol kidding!) Hope you enjoy the read:-)

Q. How come your English is so good?
A. Well, that is because I belong to a country where English is the second most spoken language in the world. So now you know why! 

Q. Do you eat Spicy Food all the time?
A. Okay, just because chillies are largely associated with India, does not mean we like to slay it all the time! In fact, some of us can’t handle spice at all! We are almost like you, you know!

Q. Is Diwali your Christmas?
A. LOL No! Our Diwali is Diwali and our Christmas is Christmas! What even makes you ask that question?!

Q. What? Do you still live with your parents?
A. Let me put it to you this way, if I ever demanded to live on my own, my parents are going to whack me down my nerves and disown me! In simple words it means NO! I am technically not ‘allowed’ to live by myself!

Q. Do you speak ‘Hindu’?
A. No. I speak Hindi. Hindu is a religion and Hindi is a language. Hope this clears the confusion.

Q.  Are all Indians so hairy?
A. I wish I could say no to this one. We Indians have a lot of issue with our body hair. I wish we could kill all our hair follicles with a magic wand. After all, we too don’t like to roam around with strawberry legs all the time!

Q. Are all Indians vegetarian?
A. Firstly, I don’t understand where this whole thing of Indians being vegetarian came from? Please visit your nearest Indian restaurant and you will have an answer to it!

Q. Do you wear a saree back home? 
A. Sarees are very beautiful and graceful to wear however I don’t know how to wear one! We have other options to choose from like Zara, H&M, Chanel, Burberry, etc.!

Q. Will you have an arrange marriage?
A. My parents are going to be the happiest to hear a’yes’ to this question however, arrange marriages in India are now seeing a downfall past many years! So , not every Indian has to go through arrange marriages. Also, I am going to be taking a plunge into a love marriage whenever that happens!

Q. How many Gods do you have and do you worship them all?
A. We have more than 330 million Gods in our country and no, I do not worship them all! For me there just exists one!
