I am sooo excited to start this series! Hope I am able to complete this challenge and give you guys new content each day until the Christmas eve! Let’s get into it..
Looking after my hair is of utmost importance to me just like taking care of everything else about my body. All these years, I feel my mother has played a vital role when it comes to taking care of myself in regards to my overall health. But she does have some OCD with great looking hair in particular!😅 She herself has such thick, strong and fabulous tresses! I do envy her there! 😬
Therefore naturally (or because of what my mother instilled in me :p), I too put in a lot of effort when keeping my hair healthy and strong. The best way to have great natural looking hair is to have a healthy and balanced diet along with a generous fitness regime. As they say: You are what you eat. It will show on your face, body and hair, no doubts!
However, apart from dealing with the tresses internally, we have to take external measures to protect it from the environment we live in. Pollution, Water, Sun Exposure, etc. You know what I am talking about. Hence, I take this opportunity to share with you the products and steps I take to protect and nourish my hair.
So to make it easier to understand and state what product I use when, I shall list the products in steps:
STEP 1: SHAMPOO
The shampoo I use is Reviver by De Fabulous. This shampoo is absolutely amazing when it comes to clean, dry and shiny hair! I am using this product for 6 years now and not even once have I been disappointed. Because I chemically treat my hair with colour and cysteine treatments, this shampoo retains the treatment for long and repairs any form of hair damage caused by them. Plus, it’s sulphate free! I recommend this shampoo even for virgin hair. Trust me, you will never go back to any other shampoo.
STEP 2: CONDITIONER
Instead of using a regular conditioner, I use L’Oréal’s Hair Spa Repairing Creambath. Historically, this is used as a hair mask in salons for deep hair conditioning treatments. However, it works so pretty well as a regular conditioner. The best thing about this product is that unlike other conditioners, it can be used on your scalp! Hence, this works well for me as it smooths and untangles my hair effortlessly. Also, this one tub of hair spa lasts me for good four months! You really need a very small amount of it than regular conditioners. That’s a save I say!
STEP 3: POWER SHOT
The little this tube is, the longer is the name: Schwarzkopf Bonacure Power Shot Repair Concentrate. LOL, but honestly, this thing is exactly what it is known: power shot! So think of this as a bonus or an add-on to my shampoo and conditioning routine. I mix this product in with the hair spa and apply to my strands keeping it for a good 5-7 minutes! This adds the external protein and nourishment my hair needs after a good shampoo. I use the repair concentrate but these tiny tots are available in other concentrates like smoothness and shine.
STEP 4: SPRAY IN CONDITIONER
Once done with shampoo and conditioning, I use Schwarzkopf BC’s Moisture Kick Spray In Conditioner. I spray a few pumps of these on towel dried hair and massage it into my hair strands. This product keeps my hair tangle free and soft until my next wash. It also acts as an amazing product if you are into styling your hair too often. Just makes my hair easy to work with.
STEP 5: HAIR SERUM
The last product I use on my hair is the hair serum. I currently use Hair Xpertise’s Argan Oil Hair Treatment. After the spray in conditioner I blow dry my hair (just very roughly so they are not wet) and apply this hair serum. It reduces the frizziness and provides an instant shine to my hair. Hair serum can be applied anytime regardless of whether you have washed your hair or not. They work well on hair after styling.
Apart from everything mentioned above, I pamper my hair with deep conditioning treatments in salon at least once or twice a month. I also treat my hair with cysteine treatment once in 6 -8 months. It smooths and reduces the frizziness in the hair. Cysteine treatments are organic and chemically free treatments. Really helps with managing your hair easily on a regular basis.
I generally wash my hair 3-4 times a week depending on how oily or dirty it gets. Also, I am not an avid hair styling person. I like to leave them out naturally as much as I can. My blow drying process involves only the rough blast drying, no curls, no waves, etc.. Some days I even skip the blow drying.
So, here I complete the steps of how I take care of my hair. I follow this routine each time I wash my hair. Always remember, nothing can compare to nutritious foods and exercising when taking care of your hair. But these products help us protect our hair and aid us with the damage control from environment and treatments.
